Electric Meter Evaluation and Experiments, Just for testing scientific purpose

I'm trying to Evaluation and Test my electric meter just for testic and scientific purpose. I tried buy Single phase electric meter like this: http://image.made-in-china.com/43f3...-Type-Single-Phase-Active-Watt-Hour-Meter.jpg
Test 1) I tried the Jumper mode. I bring out live Phase in to meter and connected it to Phase out the meter carefully with 'tail connector box'. I'm continuing to pay my bill as same by direct debit and submitting the little usage amount each month. Can electric provider find out that I connected phase cables in to phase cable out if the don't send a meter reader just by analysing usage data or anything else? I mean that without visually seeing this matter, by meter reader, is the electric provider has a way to find out whats going on?

2) Shall I do the the with Null cable in and Null cable out as well? What is difference between these?
My usage is not high and I have a little usage.
Do you have any suggestion?
Please suggest then I move to next experiment.

If your area uses modern smart meters there is a good chance they will know if you mess with it.

Expect at the least to find a new locking components installed on it at the most the meter removed and power to be cut.

Playing with service conductors is a bad move.
