I recently was told that a 1200 Amp service requires two exits. I could not find any codes requiring this...

Re: electric room exit

Apart from the alternatives permitted in 110.26(C)(2)(a) or (C)(2)(b), it is important to recognize the requirement applies to the ?workspace? and not the ?electric room? itself. Obviously, they are very closely related but the electric room may be so arranged such that a single exit from the room is sufficient. Conversely, ?means-of-egress? requirements may dictate additional exits from the room.

Re: electric room exit

Are there additional "means of egress" requirements other then the 110.26 and 517 codes?

Re: electric room exit

If your service equipment is of a distance away from the door to the room as required by table 110.26(A), then the entrance/exit to the room is under the pervue of the building department, not the NEC.
