I've got an outdoor, flourescent sign for a building. Have reviewed Article 600 and it appears to me that I need a dedicated circuit for this. My client would like to tap off the nearest light pole. Going all the back to the facility is going to cost a lot of money (although we do own it on our drawings).

Is my interpretation that it must be a dedicated circuit correct. Paragragh 600.5 seems to be the operable one but it's not entirely explicit.

Thanks,

Mike

Per the paragragh I cited?

And if so - have you any idea what the rational is?

Thanks,

Mike

One could argue (poorly, perhaps) that, if Mike isn't wiring the building, he's not responsible for something that should have been installed originally.

But then, he doesn't want the sign on the building, it seems.

The power demand of the sign, and the capacity headroom of the existing circuit, would play a large part in how far I'd try to stretch my argument.

Mike, are you sure there isn't a circuit already there, hiding in a box with a blank cover on it?

Larry - it's entirely possible that this is true. I just inherited the project and haven't even been to the site.

As an aside - the above is what showed up in my e-mail as new input from you. What showed up in the forum is different? Porque?

In any event - thanks for the input.

I noticed that, too. I re-read the OP right after making the "Is it possible..." line, and realized you didn't want the sign on the building, and edited it. Apparently, you received the email immediately upon my original post.
