Electrical Assemblies

EBM let's you build custom assemblies. Not sure what software package you use , IllinoisContractor, but in some cases you might be able to get a guy that's sharp in databases to put some together for you.

Celtic: EBM is infosoft's electrical bid manager.

bjp_ne_elec: Thanks for the reply. I've tried EBM and found the assembly database to be really weak. I use a residential electrical estimating program called TurboBid. It actually has the largest and most inclusive assembly database that I've encountered. It has over 900 assembly variations. I am just trying to be proactive by adding assemblies that I don't have but might need in the future.

Thanks for your suggestion.

IllinoisContractor - is Turbobid good for commercial? I just hit the link and I'd go for the $299 Intro price if it does commercial. What version of Turbobid do you have? I wonder if the Intro version is some watered down version, and then you have to keep adding "features"?

EBM is pretty nice, but it's the only thing I've tried, so it's hard for me to compare it to something else.

Thanks

I have to be honest with you in the fact that I have only used it for estimating residential projects. It utilizes assemblies when you are performing a take-off. I don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing for commercial estimating. I would just suggest that you try the free trial and judge for yourself.

The intro version is exactly the same as the normal version. The only difference is that after 30 days the trial version will stop working until you enter the permanent license key that you buy. It is not watered down. All of the features are included.

When I bought my copy, I asked the same questions and I was told that the reason that they have it priced so low is that they are running a grass roots campaign to build up a solid customer base.
