Forum:

Situation: a Garage with a gas-fired hot-water heater,
positioned (by HVAC rules) 18" above floor
(which places it above combustible gases).

Question: Is there an NEC ruling which requires recepticals
to be above this 18" level, on the interior wall of this garage ?

Question: Is there an NEC ruling which requires recepticals
to be above this 18" level,
if the recepticals are placed on the exterior wall of this garage ?

Suggestion: I have not found a NEC ruling on this.
I have found ADA requirements on Receptical/Switch heights.
I have found trade practices on Receptical/Switch heights.

If you are talking about Comercial garages see articles 511 & 515

Thanks,
I am referring to a Residential Garage, or any room housing the gas-fired hot-water heater.

I have no problems placing the recepticals at 24" because my 'master' specifies, but I am also curious if this is his 'trace-practice' or if there is some NEC interpretation regarding this common situation.
