Hello,
My question is if the home is built in 1960 in California,
what is the current requirement for a electrical main disconnect in the panel?

Re: electrical main disconnect

I bought a new home, in 1955, in California. It had a 60 amp service with a main breaker.

Sometime after that, the minimum service was 100 amp. I don't know exactly when it was.

Re: electrical main disconnect

"Current" can mean contemporary or amps. Bennie assumed amps. Could you be asking about the main disconnect itself? 6 or less breakers qualifies.

Re: electrical main disconnect

What is the relationship between 1960 and current requirement?

Re: electrical main disconnect

I'm sorry, I missed the two possible meanings of current here. If you mean amps, I think it was 60 then. But I wasn't born yet.

Re: electrical main disconnect

The current requirements for size of main, for a house built in 1960, is the same as in 1960.

Re: electrical main disconnect

I think Bennie is saying the main panel would have to meet the electrical code being enforced in 1960. However if you are changing the service you need to know what the present code requirements are. Your new work will not be grand- fathered to the 1960 standards.
