Hi fellas, Can I run metal conduit (surafce mounted) on a pole for lighting. So I need to provide an enclosure for the conuit mounted on the pole?
thanks ahead for any input:smile:

Yes, you can run metal conduit on a wood pole to feed a light fixture

If you are using EMT, you would only have to protect it from severe physical damage (As opposed to just regular physical damage;)).

That might come down to a common sense/AHJ thing. It would depend on the pole location, but if it's a fence post, or guardrail post, or right by the road side with no other protection from being severed by a car light post, I could see needing extra protection.

 I like that!! Ok, so I can damage it, but not severely.

Correct, only the AHJ can determine what is subject to severe physical damage.
