Electrical outlets installed on art wall - if the wall will be repainted many times, what is the best solution to avoid paint get into outlets and create short or fire later?
Use tamper-resistant outlets?

Masking tape?

Of course, the outlets still need to be repainted to match new wall paint color as well.
So the receptacles on part of the art wall? In that case one can see why they need to be painted, they are part of the art. With TR devices a glob of paint in the slots might keep the TR shutter from opening so that might be of little help. You'll need to temporarily fill the slots with something non-conductive to keep the paint out and remove it immediately after it's painted.

I'd switch off the sockets, lift them off the wall before while the paint dries then then put the sockets back on the walls.
Sockets AK receptacles.

I guess you could use those child protectors and cut it in half, then trim it so that only the plastic prongs are left. Plug that in but leave enough out so that they can be removed easily.

That is my alternate suggestion.
One other quick options is an arlington outdoor outlet box with the paint able cover. Outlet is recessed in the box but if you're wanting a close to flush finish it will need to be a deeper wall. Also you would want the stucco type option not the lap siding one since it has that border around the edge for the siding to slip behind.

That is my alternate suggestion.

That's the only suggestion. I'm not sure if there is an NEC Article addressing painting of receptacles. I can't see how it would be allowed. Once paint gets into the slots the receptacle is ruined and could even cause a fire if the paint on the contacts caused a high resistance or intermittent.

They want the receptacles painted to match the wall.
You can't always get what you want.

The Renu system sounds like the best option. (this is indoors, right?)
Failing that, make it clear to them (in writing?) that painting receptacles will compromise their functionality and safety, then install TR devices. When they dismiss your expertise and paint them anyway, bill them double for replacement.

I'm not the OP, I was answering/replying to another poster.

We take the receptacles off the boxes after we put off the breakers for the outlets. We then cover them with blanking plates.
