Is there anything in the Code book that states that electrical boxes may not be attached to a steal member by means of welding? If so, I need the reference to it. Please help me out. Thank you.

None that I know of, however there are rules against welding raceways together.

The only thing I can think of is if it has to be corrosion resistant in which case you might want to apply a zinc chromate primer after your weld job.
