I am aware that it is not good economics to turn off fluorescent lighting with magnetic ballasts if you're only going to be out of the room for less than 2 hours or so. Would the same be true if the fixtures have electronic ballasts and T8 lamps? I would like to install occupancy sensors in several offices.

I asked this question to a lighting manufacturer a couple of years ago and he told me that it didn't matter how long the lamps stayed energized with an electronic ballast. I am not exactly sure of the reason but I will try to locate it in one of my old emails.
