Elevator Main Disconnect

I am adding some lights and GFI's on an elevator shaft due to motor controller upgrade. The elevator inspector is asking me to change the existing disconnect which is a 3 phase fusible 240 volts disconnect to a Heavy Duty one. Any one heard about this requirement? Motor is 7 1/2 HP and will be reuse. Label amps says 20.5 @ 208 volts

To me, the what-was-compliant-when-installed clause ought to apply.

But, then, I'm inexperienced with elevator-specific installations, so . . .

The existing switch may not be horsepower rated.
