Good morning all. We do TI design for those Green Siren coffee stores, based in Seattle...usually about 2200-2500 sf. 400A @ 208/3 service is pretty normal. Shell design is done by other AE firms usually engaged by the landlord/developer. And usually the service and main 400A MCB panelboard is provided by the shell. Part of our work is to integrate our design with the shell.

On a couple of recent sites I have seen the Main Panelboard specified with a 400A Shunt Trip Main, along with an "Emergency Disconnect" pushbutton near the meter.

I thought that this was a requirement only for Dwellings. Not for businesses.

Just wondering if anyone has seen any local amendments that have included businesses to this section?

thanks!

Is only required at dwellings.

Nothing prohibits it elsewhere though.

Remote control means to open service disconnecting means has also been allowed in the past, can not be remote only means of operating it AFAIK.
