Emergency Generator Panels

Hello,

Is it ever ok to splice the branch circuits in the main electrical panel to extend them to the emergency generator panel. I have a job where
the EMT conduits housing the branch circuits are coming out of a concrete ceiling and terminate right into the panel, the feed for the panel is coming at the bottom, it would be nice to splice the branch circuits in the panel, but for some strange reason I don't think this is possible.

Thanks for your help,
Ken

Re: Emergency Generator Panels

Ken what you need to know is if this generator is truly an emergency generator covered by Article 700. If the answer is yes you are out of luck, the emergency circuits can not be in the same enclosure as the 'normal' power circuits.

If the generator is not covered by article 700 you may splice in the panel.

700.9(B) is very limited to it's application, it does not apply to what you describe.
