Emergency generator

The NEC never requires an emergency generator or other emergency system. It just tells you how to wire such a system that is specified by other codes.

Does the code require an emergency generator is a public assembly space exceeds 300 in population?

thank you

IIRC from reading these forums, all you need is egress lighting that lasts ?30 minutes?. That's a battery pack on the exit signs.

I was someplace recently where the exit signs were at ankle height-- which makes sense, since, if you're crawling along the floor where the Good Air is, you won't see signs above the doors...

Generally you find the requirement in the adopted Building Code in the jurisdiction for the building.

If for example they have adopted the International Building Code, then refer to Chapter 27 Electrical for when an Emergency and standby power system may be required.
