Emergency Lighting 2 X 2 troffers

Are company is in the process of changing out 2 X 2 lights with LED. The old emergency 2 X 2 lights come with a test switch, the new LED's do not. Does the code require a test switch on the 2 X 2 LED emergency lights. If so, can the test switch be above the drop ceiling?

Welcome back to the forums!

It sounds interesting that you're buying new emergency lights that don't have a test switch. My opinion is yes, they have to be testable. As to convenience of test switch location, I don't know off the top of my head how accessible that must be.

I don't think it's required by the NEC,But this could be a local code rule.

Testing components for Life Safety is required to be readily accessible. In as such, it must be mounted where it can be accessed without removing any building structure.
 
Well, if it does not have a test switch does it even have a battery backup inside?

Is this light circuit inline with other lights or does it have it's own circuit?

That was my first though too!!

Do any of the new LED lights have a battery backup??
