Good Morning,
I am assisting a GC we do work for in evaluating an existing 7 story building in California. I recall over the years hearing that code prohibits the use of fixtures with internal batteries for EM lighting in this bldg type. Can someone clarify this requirement?

No such code requirement that I've ever heard of. Check your locally adopted Electrical Code and look for amendments in Article 700
