We ran B-line solid strut channel with snap on covers. In the raceway is 277V lighting circuits, 2 separate circuits both #10 Thhn. The problem the inspector has is the one is from critical power and the other is normal power. Also there is a third life safety circuit that runs 10 lights, it is run in conduit separate from the normal & critical. The inspector wants all 3 circuits separated. Is there a code violation here with the normal & critical run together?
 
517.30(C) Wiring Requirements.

(1) Separation from Other Circuits. The life safety
branch and critical branch of the emergency system shall be
kept entirely independent of all other wiring and equipment
and shall not enter the same raceways, boxes, or cabinets
with each other or other wiring.
Wiring of the life safety branch and the critical branch
shall be permitted to occupy the same raceways, boxes, or
cabinets of other circuits not part of the branch where such
wiring complies with one of the following:

(1) Is in transfer equipment enclosures

(2) Is in exit or emergency luminaires supplied from two
sources

(3) Is in a common junction box attached to exit or emergency
luminaires supplied from two sources

(4) Is for two or more emergency circuits supplied from
the same branch
The wiring of the equipment system shall be permitted
to occupy the same raceways, boxes, or cabinets of other
circuits that are not part of the emergency system.

Which means the inspector is right.

Thanks Roger

So if I put a sub-panel off of the existing "emergency panel" serving just the emergency lights, will I be complying with the code? Can I provide a disconnect switch (might be cheaper) and serve the emergency loads from each phase of the disc sw?
 
There are Emergency (700), Legally Required (701) and Optional Standby Systems (702). All must be entirely separate including separate transfer switches.
