emergency/service outdoor disconnect

When installing the emergency disconnect, can a lock be put on it to stop someone from turning the power off ? If so , kinda defeats the purpose. Or is "no locking" required. This may have been discussed, I don't have the 2020, we're on 2017. Thank you
 
Yes install a lock if you wish. If I were a betting man I would bet that NJ will remove this from the electrical code when they formally adopt the 2020 NEC.

after I posted I figured they’d just pull out a bolt cutter.

if it wasn’t left on the other engine or back at the fire house. :- )

It would be rare where the seconds to open the power disconnect really makes any difference. Often even looking at utility shutoffs is a number of minutes after the firefighters have arrived on scene. The primary search would normally be completed and the initial fire attack started before they look at the power and gas shut offs. Often the responsibly of the 2nd or 3rd engine or the 2nd ladder.
