I have seen alot of rusty EMT on the front of buildings, not so much up high but down low, I think it may due to people throwing salt on sidewalks in the winter.

I see it all over in Maine(emt outdoors), looks fine to me. Do you see holes in the pipe from rust??

Sometimes holes, usually just gone completely.

What do you consider a long time?

Exposed to the weather RMC will outlast EMT by a long shot.

I've put up a lot of EMT outside here in the Pac NW. Hold it off of the walls with back straps or strut and there is no problem.

I run it outside here in my constant foggy weather - not very many problems - but will say this - it lasts a lot longer if they paint it, and maintain that paint coating.

20 30 years?? I've seen it on telephone poles, completely rust colored yet still whole. I agree RMC would last longer it also costs 5 or 6??( a stick of 3/4 rmc at Wesco distribution was 22 bucks in Bangor Maine last week) times more

How long is an electrical installation supposed to be good for?....Im sure not indefinetly....I thought I heard before that new construction had a "life expectancy" of 100 yrs......

Let the customer decided if it's not in a bid spec.. Customer chooses x amount of dollars vs xx amount with the understanding of potential rust in 20-30 years..
