I'm not sure I understand where they wouldn't be code compliant...explain. After all, what else would you use a bat wing for??
 
As it turns out...today I asked an inspector about this subject.
According to him, as far as ceiling hanger wire in concerned, if the wire is secured buth at the top as well as the bottom (to the ceiling grid, for example) it is legal to use a bat wing to securely support emt, mc, etc. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask him about the allthread question but I did have such a support method on the job he inspected today and he passed it.
I'm sure that some inspectors would have issues with the installation, whether it is securely supported or not.
