Why worry about how someone else wants to do their one job?

Nizak wants an emt sleeve, I see no problem with that. My helpful suggestion was to go ahead and land on the box because the tiny bump in the drywall is not going to be noticed and that way he doesn't have to worry about arguing with the inspector.

If you want to bash holes in walls and do a code minimum job that's fine. That does not appear to be what the OP is interested in though.

Let op answer your criticism. It just seems we are worried about something outside the scope! I'm all for doing things right. And am proud of it! If you construct a block wall you cut holes for outlets, correct? So why can't you remodel and cut a hole?

Well, one thing that comes to mind- suppose it's a demising partition between units? Busting holes is going to alter the fire rating.

Then suppose you have poured concrete. You going to spend all day busting holes in that?

You say you're all for doing things right. The right way here is not trying to work with what somebody else didn't do right and dumped it on you.

Op said block wall. Correct? You can assume if you want. But if I know it's a partition between occupancies I would confront GC. And concrete as remodel GC would have to firr out wall to meet electrical standard also.
