EMT vs. PVC outdoors

I need to make a 30 ft. run from inside a building to an outside parking lot gate. It will be in the weather. The run will be 24 inches above ground attached to the chain link fence. One 20 amp circuit. GFCI will possibly cause an issue with the gate motor, so it will not be GFCI.

Would you use pvc conduit or emt conduit with compression fittings?

Cost is not the issue. What is the best install concerning safety and code?

Given all the critera of the OP, I agree. If you take out the part about "cost is not the issue" I still agree.

With PVC, you will probably need an expansion fitting.
With EMT, you will need raintight fittings. Normal compression fitting are not raintight.
