Does anyone know of a code requirement for enclsoure covers? For example, I'm looking for a code that would specifically tell you whether it is acceptable or not to install a 3' x 3' JB 30' off the ground w/ only a slotted head screw on type cover (versus, a hinged cover). The concern is that the cover falls off an injures the worker.

I believe the code only requires that covers for boxes and enclosures be compatible with the box and that they are suitable for the conditions of use. See section 314.28(C).

regardless of what the code says, do you really want to save $20 or so using this type of enclosure that far off the ground? I have to beleive the aggravation factor is worth the cost differential.
