Does anyone know of a site or place where there is a formal precedure or precautions in place for rescue for somebody working in a energized panel. The only thing I have ever been told is to rescue somebody being electrocuted with a 2x4 or rope. We are looking for some form of training in this area. Thanks.

The prefered method is always to shut off the power, the rope dosent work to well unless it is already tethered to the worker (victim). A rescue hook is a much better method.

TVA regularly has men put on a rubber suit,gloves and head cover and terminate feeders to bus bars.Every inch besides the section of the one bus being terminated is covered with 3/4" thick rubber blankets.The wireman performing the work removes all metal from his pockets and his person.If you don't want to do it they won't try to make you or fire you.Foreman told me that the reasoning is that they can't always shut the stuff down. (I reckon life is cheap at TVA)Not saying it's a good idea or right but you asked...
