Re: english guy moving to springfield MO.

The techniques would be the same but I can't imagine that you would know the NEC. I assure you that it is much different than the one you use. Additionally, our system is different (voltages, grounding, HZ, etc.)

I highly recommend you get in touch with an organization that runs an apprenticeship program and explain your circumstances. I would think that there would be something that could be worked out. I see this as a home study to get accustomed to our systems, working with an electrical contractor while doing this and testing out of most of the subjects as you finish them.

After all that is complete, you could get a journeymans card or even a masters license if you are qualified.

I don't know if any of the above can be done but it is certainly worth looking into. I wish you luck.

By the way, welcome to the forum. :D

Re: english guy moving to springfield MO.

thanks charlie, the standard of work we do in the uk is at a similar level to that done in the USA here is a link for a similar test instrument to the one i have to use here at all times, all work here has to be tested and a report filed with the local building control

http://www.pat-raining.co.uk/megger_mft_1502.htm

i have included this so that people on here dont think i am stupid. a separate qualification
c&g 2391 inspection and testing certificate is needed to do the testing that is required here and c&g 2381 16th edition which is the latest version of our wiring regulations

in my searches about becoming a journeyman electrician i have found that references can be used as proof of working within the electrical environment, so i am bringing references for my last 6 years employment as well as my apprenticeship certificate with me i hope this does the trick
