Hello Forum,

My question is associated with Section 230.82 (2023 NEC).
Can Article 700 loads specifically emergency lighting be considered under this requirement? There is a commentary in 2017 NEC Handbook that seems to allow it but 2023 NEC handbook does not have that commentary. thank you.
 
Emergency lighting can constitute a second service but that doesn't mean it can be a supply side tap. I would argue that it can't be based on 700.12(F).

"The service conductors for the separate service shall be installed sufficiently remote electrically and physically from any other service conductors to minimize the possibility of simultaneous interruption of supply."
