equipment ground outside

I always thought that an equipment ground must be ran when going outside reagardless of what type of conuit was used. I can't find a code section that states this. Is there one?

The code does not say that. The raceways that are listed for use as an EGC in 250.118 are not restricted to indoor use when used as an EGC.
