On my job I am installing exhaust fans with heaters in every bathroom, so far I have installed 12 of them. When I started, I read the paperwork and they called for a 15 amp ckt and when I looked at the nameplate in the unit it reads 11.9 amps, everything is cool...Today I was looking at the actual box in came in and on the back it reads "20 amp ckt required"......With all the info am I Ok with it on a 15a breaker or does it need a 20?

I'm curious to know the model number, and manufact?

Model number is 658 and I think it is a Broan
Yes, I put in a boatload of them in on a hotel job a while back. I served them with 20 amp circuits, but only because I didn't check the fan specs carefully. I was just used to fan/lights with heat in them needing a 20 amp circuit .

On a side note, I didn't care for that particular unit. A few of them ended up with scorched trim right off the bat, and several had the heat burn out within 6 months.

i have installed these fans before. infact i installed 4 in a house and i had to run a dedicated 20amp circuit to each fan.

Im a big fan of panasonics. I recently put in a vent fan/heater and it works great and the trim is made out of metal. A little large but sturdy non the less.
