Hi there.

We are replacing out the existing service conductors that originate from a property line box and terminate in a CT cabinet. The incoming service conductors within the CT cabinet doesn't seem to grounded to a grounding electrode. Nor are they within the existing service switch enclosure. The service conduits into the CT cabinet from underground are bonded together to the CT enclosure.

I can use the existing main cold water pipe and run a grounding electrode conductor to be confident that the service is grounded. My question is where would I terminate the grounding electrode conductor from the main cold water pipe - to the CT enclosure or to the service switch enclosure?

Thanks.

The NEC allows the GEC connection anywhere from the service point to the service disconnect.

Keep in mind the water pipe alone is not enough, you need to supplement it with another electrode or two.

If it's a POCO service, make sure they allow a GEC ground connection in their section.
