exit lights

I know it is not a NEC issue, but where would I go to find requirements for exit lights?

I am doing an extended stay motel, and the plans say "mount one high and one low as per local and national codes"

Any help would be appreciated.

If your state/city/county adopts the NFPA 101, Pierre would be correct. Otherwise, it will be the building code. In Utah, it is the IBC, not the NFPA 101.

How much of a difference is there in the IBC as compared to NFPA 101 in regards to the exit sign requirements?

Honestly Pierre, I have no idea. Since we adopt the NFPA 101, I have never even seen it.
