Doing s panel change out in garage
It must have been a warehouse at first or other use
What i noticed is their is no explosion fittings on site anywhere That is why i presume this was for storage But now large garage/ fleet maintainance
Even though putting a explosion fitting in is fruitless I am still installing
The hazard zone of 18 inches above floor
Can the ey fitting be in the 18 inch zone or must it be above the 18 inch height line

Has an engineer determined that this is actually a hazardous location?
No I am putting in as precautionary. I believe this should be a classified situation. The whole building was never classified as this. I believe on initial build 50 years are more. It has no eys fittings anywhere. I am putting it because I have them in stock. And couldnt hurt I reckon.

I would read through 511 and determine if any of the areas meet the definition of a hazardous location.

If you do have a class 1 area, you will need to do more than just put seal offs at the panel.

It wouldn’t hurt to consult your AHJ.
