I think the issue comes down to the size of mowing equipment you use around your place, in my case everything is subject to SEVERE physical damage.

The UL listing for Sch 80 states is its considered suitable where exposed to physical damage, and by default then sch 40 would not be suitable. RMC is suitable for protection from sever physical damage.

352.10 Uses permitted.
352.10(F) For exposed work where not subject to physical damage if identified for such use.

Exposed isn't necessarily subject to physical damage.
