Extension Cords

Could someone help me out, where in the NEC does it tell you that an extension cord cannot be used as a permanant wiring methode? Also is a extension cord considered protected if it is in a listed, rubber floor cord protection raceway?
Or is that just a trip hazard?

Yes, roger 400.8 and Jeff let's talk about the cord protection device on floors they are everywhere.

Yes, they are, but they beat duct tape which I have seen used too.
