My roughly 32' wooden extension ladder broke a rung today. I could easily break it apart in two sections which was nice as it was allot lighter to move around and I could use the shorter section buy itself. What are two good extension ladder length. I will buy two as I need a very tall one allot but want something lighter for the lower heights. Thanks

I carry a 24' on the truck at all times, and have access to a 32 and a 40. In use, the 24 gets used about 90% of the time, the 32 is 9% and the 40 is 1%.

None of my fiberglass ladders are rated for seperating the sections for individual use.

we keep 24s on the vans and the big ladders at he shop anything very high and its a rental lift

24' fiberglass on the van - also carry a 16' step ladder on the van, 6' and 4' inside the van.

anything higher - rent - only have encountered the need for a 40' once in past 5 years

It has been so long since I have been in the trade that I don't know a lot about ladders. However, if you purchase wooden ladders, make sure you are getting rodded steps (does OSHA require that now?). :)

We carry 24's in the trucks. That will get you on a two story roof top.

Some of my guys prefer aluminum because the fiberglass ones are right at the limit of what is safe to handle/carry by yourself. I prefer a sturdy fiberglass ladder. I feel more comfortable/secure.

We often set up in close proximity to the service entrance aluminum ladders are just to conductive for me

Like the rest 24' on the truck 32's and 40's at the shop.

I really would like to go with a 28' on the truck, the 24' is just a bit short to reach the trusses in many of the stores I work in.

I bought an 18 ft. one piece ladder (special order) that I like.. extra heavy duty rungs and side rails. Has heavy duty rubber tips built into the ends to protect the siding. I also have a 14ft. step ladder I put on top of the extension ladder when needed. (on top of the truck)
