Sorry, I just had to! :D

You can, I try to use the xring as an extention of the cover when poss. rather than "lock" the pipes in the 4sq. from being got at easy.

480v I was young when I made that long box please stop showing it as your hurting my feelings! haha

Sparky,

I need some help pulling another circuit through that H/R. I'm gonna need your help. I'll feed at the panel, you pull.

No problem. There's a ?" that goes straight though. I'll pull from the other end of the second pipe from the panel.;)

. . . I was young when I made that long box . . .
;) Heh!

I've always wanted to know how this thing got tightened.

Look at the bottom box and the joint between the 3rd and 4th (from bottom) boxes.

The bottom box is actually a full bottomed box - the EMT in the 90? connector is connected to a KO in that box bottom.

The 3rd and 4th (from bottom) boxes are extension rings that are facing each other and are somehow tied together. . . inquiring minds want to know how.

see the empty conn. on the bottom, I ran a pipe from the back of the orig. box inside and is held by that conn. after I cut the thread part of making it like a coupling. hehe

I saw the shadow that looks like a keyhole slot, also, but I gave more weight to the pair of holes on the box sides towards the lens and the fact that the third from bottom extension ring is welded, not stamped.

Looks to me like there's two welded boxes here... the very bottom 4square, and the 2nd extension from the bottom.

How the whole cluster---- is held together is what I'd like to know.

No one has even mentioned the 90 degree EMT compression connector at the bottom. Do these even exist? :-?
Absolutely. I've used them on several occasions. A pair of them works great when you have two things that only have top or bottom KO's and they're mounted side-by-side.

Look up a Halex #02905B.

Can I run EMT pipe to and from a extension ring attached to a 4sq. J-box??

I need to find this in the code book. We have a QC on our job who says this is against code. I have never herad that you could not, I just don't see why you can't. I have been unable to find it in the NEC. He Also says we are not allowed to use them on new construction. I would appreciate any help on this, Thanks.
