I am running a branch circuit from the main panel underground to an exterior breaker panel with breakers. 60 amp breaker inside to a exterior panel then from exterior breaker box to gate motors and lighting. USE CABLE water resistant , mold resistant, perfect for application. Question XHHW has almost the same qualities can you do direct burial on branch circuit with out complications and still stay with in the code. state is michigan.

USE can be used as a branch circuit. XHHW is good for wet location but not direct burial thus it may be used in a raceway.

What about just using type UF cable?
Is the temperature factor an issue?
For whatever the reason, I know it used to be available as single conductor. It was supplied to us by our distributor for connecting that European low-density radiant heating film crap that was so very popular many years ago.
