Eye bolt..

I have been trying to locate a lag type eye bolt that is 14" long.

The framers must of run out of wood and used 1X6 where normally you find a 2X6.

I have to drill through the outer framing and hit the next roof rafter

I don't want to cut the roof open to use threaded rod if I can find a lag instead.

Try a real builders supply house or a fastener specialty place.

Yeah, that ^ would be what I recommend too.

My first stop was Grainger, but they want to sell me a box of (50) @ $6.00 ea

That was about (4) months ago and every place I ask says.. WHAT??

The HO wants to get something welded together, but that sounds like trouble in the making.

Service drop is 1/0 triplex that runs across a road.

Try asking a lineman from your local POCO where they get their stuff.

I did... and they only use the threaded type for going through the pole.

The POCO does not supply or install the eye bolt.. they gave that chore to the EC.

Well yeah, Grainger means, totally no help and way over priced in some foreign language. :roll:

No and that is a great idea... they are a mile from me..

Can't argue with that, BUT.. "even a blind dog can find a bone once in a while"..

I just have to find the "point" if they even make such an animal

We use the insulator type that comes with a 3/8" X 6" threaded stud. If it's too short we just add a piece of 3/8" threaded rod with a rod coupling.

That sounds like what I am trying to build, but the POCO will not allow the "insulator" type for 200 amp services.


They will only allow it on mast services...

It does, but the threaded couplings with some Locktite on the threads is better than welding something together.

This is just a weird situation that calls for thinking outside the box for a fix.

Is that box a ........ah never mind.
I had to do some out of the box thinking on a 100a rental house I did. Owner refused to let me go thru the roof so I told him all I could do was run se down the side of the house till I got my 12ft clearance... He said ok???Looked like heck but he was happy.....
