you are worried about the cost of a box bracket. I would not even contemplate buying painted bud rings. Add a few cans of red paint to your estimate. Mud rings are way too easy to paint. Boxes are a different story.
One layer of 5/8"rock or two layers. We would just paint the boxes red Strathead suggested.Anyone know why Raco only make 5/8 and 1-1/4 RED plaster rings?
What if it's 3/4"? Also, why not just buy them red instead of having to paint them. One layer of 5/8"rock or two layers. We would just paint the boxes red Strathead suggested.
What 3/4"? We were told that field painting is cheaper and may be more readily available unpainted. What if it's 3/4"? Also, why not just buy them red instead of having to paint them.
3/4" sheet rock you'd need 3/4" plaster ring, no?What 3/4"? We were told that field painting is cheaper and may be more readily available unpainted.
I've never seen 3/4 sheetrock. 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 standard sizes.3/4" sheet rock you'd need 3/4" plaster ring, no?
Aahhh didnt know.I've never seen 3/4 sheetrock. 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 standard sizes.
Actually for 5/8" sheetrock a 3/4" plaster ring is the better size.
Can you link the box? I'd like to see.I am currently just using the $24 Orbit box, which reduces the labor needed. On a $1 million job you may have 50 of them. If they add $14 each, that is $700. A rounding error.
By the way Strat do you use a check at the end of your estimate like certain amount of hours/material per device?you are worried about the cost of a box bracket. See post #6Can you link the box? I'd like to see.
I am only part time estimating today. I usually just look at cost per square foot, and sort my material and labor low to high and make sure I don't see anything that sticks out. You can also add up all your boxes and add up all your blank covers and mud rings. With the exception of this specific fire alarm application, they should add up.By the way Strat do you use a check at the end of your estimate like certain amount of hours/material per device?
That comes with the box or it's just the bracket?See post #6
Both Caddy and Orbit carry similar products. They are in steps. The box comes with a bracket that will screw to a stud or snap in to the Big O span bracket. Then if you are going in a ceiling grid there is an accessory that clips on to the Big O bracket to snap to the ceiling grid. You can buy each part separately or as an assembly. Two years ago the assembly that was all components for the Grid was $27, the wall Big O was $24, and the bracket and box only was, I think $18. It seems high, but the time spent checking and adjusting the boxes is balanced off in the calculations of myself and my Project Manager who ran the numbers with me. It may be a little more expensive, but reduces labor by probably 1/2 and makes it so a less meticulous worker can have less mistakes. That comes with the box or it's just the bracket?
