Face to name

I have been participating on these forums for about 5 years. I have more than five thousand responses. I would like to put a face with my name.

I don't have the capability to post my picture direct to this board. I can email it to anyone who can post it for me. I'd appreciate any and all help.

My point is to illustrate what 50 plus years as an electrician can do. :(

Thanks

Bennie

Bennie, I'd be happy to post your photo.

My e-mail address is - edmac@attcanada.ca

It's exactly 50 years since I started - Threading 2" galvanized rigid conuit with hand dies, and putting holes thru concrete walls with a star-drill and hammer.

Re: Face to name

JEEZ 50 YEARS!!!! I was not even born when you guys started. I guess I am new at this, only 28 years in the biz. I find it hard to imagine the changes you have seen over the years. one thing I know for sure is, your hard work and low pay have paved the way for us to make a better living today. I bet you guys used a bit and brace to drill holes (my father used one). Today we whip out our handy battery drills and away we go. Actually now, when it gets a little hard, I call the helper! :D
I am really looking forward to the pics, I have seen some of the others and it is always nice to see the face of someone, it seems more friendly that way. I need to send one of myself, I was thinking of sending me and my family in the picture.

Re: Face to name

Any chance of starting a gallery as part of this website for photos of those participants who want to post them there ?

Re: Face to name

I really wanted to just show off my new digital camera. The picture was taken by a remote switch. I felt stupid trying to smile when alone.

I would recommend a digital camera for keeping progress records on jobs. The entire project can be stored on a DVD.

One of the bad things about growing old is you younger people get to play with the toys my generation started.

Glad to see ya Bennie.
also glad to see someone of your stature use some of these "toys" as there are many that are still afraid of them and wont even touch them.
But I wish they would as we need that kind of experience on this forum, so us young pups can really learn.

Bennie:

Please tell me more about the new camera with the remote switch. Is it a separate item, or are you setting the camera to take your picture in a few seconds?

I just bought a Sony Stylus 300 Digital Camera and it came with a small separate remote. I will try it out next week while on the road.

Now you can take pictures of electrical systems and send them to us, so we can talk about them as you describe.

Please send pictures of the Portland, Oregon area showing the way they install services, if possible.

I hope they don't look like this one I found in Cinncinatti about 20 years ago!

I bought a Minolta, 4 mega pixel, still and movie recording camera. The remote control will function up to 16 feet.

I can get about 115 pictures on one 128 MB flash card. I will take some pictures of the local systems.

Re: Face to name

Bennie, you are looking very good. How are you getting along (I have not heard any update for a long time)?

When (if) I get to your age in a very few years, I hope to look that good.

BTW, I don't remember saying anything but welcome back, we all missed you. Take care, Charlie :D

Re: Face to name

Charlie: I appreciate the concern. The doctors say there is nothing that can be done for my condition, which is lung disease. Years of smoking, so I am not too smart. I quit a few years ago, but the damage was done and is irreversible.

I am starting a herbal treatment, which is giving me some relief. I am actually not using as much bottled oxygen as before.

It's an old message but needs to be be reiterated.

Anyone who is smoking, please quit. It can be done. Many think it is too hard to quit, and will not try for fear of failure.

Many things I write, are not unanimously accepted as fact, but you can accept this as life or death fact.

Re: Face to name

Bennie,

I disagree somewhat, I think that too many people see smoking as something that won't catch up to them for years, if at all. They trade off what it provides them with now for what MAY happen years down the road.

If they only knew.

Re: Face to name

Bennie,

I wish you luck with your herbal treatment and with life as a whole. I always look forward to reading your responses & posts. I have to agree with your urging people to stop smoking. But for a slightly different reason. I'm 44, and have been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. I have never smoked a day in my life. I have gone through 4 rounds of chemo that didn't work that well, so I'm now on a clinical trial of a drug that really seems to be working.

I have been able to keep working through all my treatments, except for a handfull of days when the hospital took all day. The reason that I have the chances for remission that I have, and weathered the effects of chemo as well as I have was due to my having not smoked, my age and general OK health.

My point being that stopping or notstarting improves not only your chances for not contracting something, but it also improves your chances of recovery should you actually contract something.

Bennie, as always, I wish you the best and look forward to each and every post you make.
