Fall Protection?

The following is from OSHA document.
Answer (2): In 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart M (Fall protection), Section 1926.500(a)(2)(vii) provides:
Requirements relating to fall protection for employees working on stairways and ladders are provided in Subpart X . . .

There is no provision in Subpart X that requires fall protection for an employee while working from a portable stepladder.

I maybe hard headed - but not impossible. Going to be packing some copies with me, in a lunch box, and telling contractors, that they can save money by following the law. An insurance underwriter only cares that the contractor follow the law!

Rob (infinity),

Sorry for the confusion. Marched out what I believed to be "the law". Others have provided documentation, that is the current law. More than happy to go with that.

Sorry that I added to the confusion also! But I did learn something! I have recently been told from fellow sparkys across the way that the new osha requirement included "step" ladders! They(osha) needs to make the correction on the one page that I posted. I had read that some time in the past!!:confused: Don I noticed on one of the pages posted that there was a correction made to it on03/24/09.

No need to apologize, it's all good.

This was covered in a safety class I took not so long ago but I was lacking in documentation so that's why I was asking for some. It is common for GC's to try and enforce the 6' rule for step ladders, we argue about this quite a bit on the job site.
