i recently install 2 ceiling fans with light kits on one switch leg . Customer want to be able to change the fan speed with wall control. The fan on 25 ft ceiling. I do not like the idea of reinstalling my scoffing again to install receiver units . Most of the wall control switch I knew of rated for 1.5amp one fan . please if you of knew fan control switch capable of carry the two fans load and what?s the best way to approach this .

I really appreciate your help and advice
thanks

Are the lights on the switch also??

They make a fan switch that will do both fans but it is the variable style.. The fans will hum and drive the customer crazy. I don't recommend it.

The only thing I know that's going to help you out is the Lutron Nova-T. The fan will hum. You other option you already ruled out; installing a receiver in each fan and a device mounted remote with everything set to the same DIP switch settings.

The best and only way is if a 3 conductor was ran to each fan, this way you can just add seperate speed controls for the fans and still have each light come on together of seperate also...

Hey, what do you know... the Emerson SW93 speed control is rated for 3 amps and a max of 2 fans. See if that might suit.

Cool find Marc, I've been stuck like this before, the funniest thing a owner ever had me do is install 3 outdoor fans ( about 10' apart) with light and remote kits, and put all 3 on the same code, sometimes 1 would come on, sometimes 2, it was a mess...

thank you

thank you

thank you for your input the light on seperate switch . thanks marc i was hoping to hear your Opinion on the the question i posted yester day .

Now....promise NEVER to do that again.

ALWAYS run a 3 wire to EACH fan.

Capice?

aw crap.....maybe you didn't do the original wiring. (((((read and comprehend the post dammit!!))))

Pictorial result of trying to run 3 paddle fans on the load side of one receiver:

The last house I just wired will get remote controls for the fans. So says the ho. 2 wire only to each one.

OK, but I think it is up to someone else to install a larger box.

No. I'm the one there 'doing the work'. I am responsible for all the potential violations, so it is up to me to put in a larger box. And it matters not whether it's in my scope of work, but the inspector tells me I have to.

Always run a three wire to the fan box. Even if the HO says they are getting remotes. When the Missus or Interior Decorator get that "beautiful" fan that has no remote just install a stack switch and be done. One thing we all should know if we have been in this business for more than say... uh.. a week, is to expect the unexpected.
