Fan rated box...

What happens in a season or two or three when the torque of the fan running finally causes the fan to give way from the box? I am not an engineer, but I have seen the threaded portion of those boxes fail before, without fans installed.


Slightly unrelated, but we had a call back on a recently finished home where the MBRM fan was hanging by its wires over the foot of the bed. Our helper did not tighten the downrod set screw and I guess the starting torque of the fan eventually spun the housing loose from the downrod.:mad: Let me re-emphasize that it was the MASTER BEDROOM, of all places. That was the beginning of the end for him.

we had that happen w/ a hunter fan in the m. bed once. however, the fan landed ON the bed. the lady who lived there said her back was hurting the night before and she decided to sleep in a guest room. the guy that did it was already long gone by the time it fell.
