It looks like the NM portion has to be 'wired'.

In this state that would require a permit and a licensed electrician.

The A/V guy would not likely be a licensed electrician.

If they used a re-lock type plug on both ends of the NM they might be better off.

As much as I hate rubber cord I do not see this as much different then the cord that is on a video projector that is permanently mounted.
