Fasten in place

Is a plug and cord connected a/c unit, screwed in a window, subject to 50% or 80% circuit capacity?

50% when other loads are also supplied. (210.23(A)(2).

A window A/C unit is held in place by the window having been closed down upon it. Is that "fastened"? I don't think so. IMO, to be "fastened" requires the use of a "fastener," such as a nail, screw, or bolt.

{Edit to add: I did not take the phrase "screwed in window" literally. Did you mean that you used screws to hold the unit in place? If so, then I agree with Bryan.}

Not really shure what you mean by "circuit capacity"?

Are you supplying other loads with the same branch circuit as Bryan mentioned?? If so, and if you have an AC unit that draws more than 10 amps, you would need a 25A or larger branch circuit. What else would you put on a 25A circuit??

Was trying to keep from labeling the receptacle as a/c. yes it did have other outlets on the circuit and the answer was what i needed to hear for clarication. circuit capacity? bad choice of words. THANKS GEO

Van, I bet the A/C unit has a "single-receptacle circuit" label on it.
