Fault current calculations

Without understanding what fault current is, and the effect of impedance, formulas won't really mean much. For those trying to determine something that they have little understanding about, will ultimately only lead to trouble.

True. I also have an issue with the "engineer in a box" software. A lot of people run this software but don't understand the basic principles behind the calcs, or what assumptions have been made by the people writing the software. There is no telling how much work has been done using the output from this canned software with no hand-check of the results to see if they even make sense.

"Well, that's what the computer came up with" is not a true statement. That is what YOU came up with, using a tool that was at your disposal (all assumptions and inputs included).
