what do you mean "without protection"? Sounds like they are protected by a 100 amp breaker, or are you talking physical protection? Running SE cable exposed in/on a building is fine 99.5% of the time.

If you are saying no main breaker in sub panel, sounds like you have your service disconnects already...MLO would be fine.
