I’ve got a customer that’s is having a utility pole replaced. The meter and what looks like an isolation switch are on the pole. The old pole has a 100 amp 2 hits and uninsulated neutral overhead feed to the house a 60 amp underground feed to the barn and a 60 amp overhead feed to the garage. The customer already ran a new underground feed for the garage and barn with 3-#2 urd and a #4 ground. He wants me to put a new meter on the new pole. The feed to the house needs to be changed to have an insulated neutral and a grounding conductor.
My question is can I use the left over #2 Al urd cable for 100 amp feed to the house using the 83%service deduction or do I have to upsize to #1?

thank you

If the calculated load on the house allows for a 100 amp service you can use the #2AL cable to supply it.
(You need to see exactly what the markings are on the cable: "URD" marking by itself is not allowed).
