Fights about Licensing!!

I just heard (rumor contol ) that our board is thinking of requiring electricians that that work for State buildings to be required to be licensed.

Anybody who can't make the cut, will be stuck working for the VA hospital. Yikes, ever done an install at one of those? Talk about throwing common sense specs out the window.

Does anyone inspect the work done by state employees? If not then requiring a electrical license won't do anything to increase safety. I've seen just as much poor work done by experienced electricians as I have by handyman types. Without any type of inspection to require that NEC standards are met requiring licensing does nothing to change the current way things are done.
