They look like early Carlons, possibly Arlington.
don't see how a sledgehammer will fit under that tab without it makes the box stick out too farThat's what sledge hammers are for.
I skipped ahead as soon as I saw this so if somebody else spoke up - my humble apologies. Where I'm at pressure treated lumber is used in all structural work due to termite problems. Carlon blue boxes have nails that are not as strong as the ones that T+B uses on the gray union plastic boxes. Easier to bend the nail, or break the nailholder if the hammer doesn't hit square each and every time. Also the round fixture box nails on Carlon boxes will penetrate through a 2"x4" bottom cord of a truss or a joist, which you have to watch out for if you have cables running along the other side of said wood member. Next- the entry clamps on blue boxes are in my book not near as good as the type that T+B gray uses which will grip the cables without cutting into the sheath, while the multigang Carlon boxes employ that sheathcutter that has the sharp corners. Next- go back and watch how brittle Carlon boxes have become after about 15 years. They loose the pliability, easy to crack at that point. Thats why I spend the extra 15 bucks to pick up cases of T+B at the supply house when I have time for that option. Its simple stuff but to me it makes just enough difference that I have a preference. As far as "hack", I would say Carlon= not hack.I really wish someone would quantify the hatred towards Carlon Blue.
Other than "They're hack", I mean.
