Hi All,

I am estimating wiring on a finished below grade poured concrete basement (circa 2010).

The exterior walls will be 2x4 with rolled fiberglass insulation.

My question is are vapor barrier boxes required on the exterior walls? I am assuming yes I just want to get your opinion.

Thank you.

It depends on the states ruling. In NC it is only required if there is an outdoor receptacle in the same bay as an indoor one.

Thanks! I spoke with the AHJ today and he told me not to waist my money (my guess is he is not a big fan of the VBB).
He also told that it applies only to new work/ additions, not renovations.

I believe each AHJ in each town will have a different interpretation of the rule.
Thanks again for your input!
